The images featured on this page illustrate examples of 17th and 18th century drinking glasses and glassware that were offered for sale at our May 2010 glass fair. Privateer Goblet

A highly important and rare Privateer Goblet (c1754). The generous bowl of this fine engraved drinking glass features the motto 'SUCCESS TO THE SENHOUSE' above a three-masted brig, as well as a vine leaf, a single hop and an ear of barley on the reverse.

22.5cm Tall.

Candlestick

A rare and early English lead Candlestick.

Featuring a knopped hollow stem of baluster form
(typical of the period).

Circa 1690.

17th Century Goblet

A dutch wheel-engraved goblet. Profusely engraved with various kinds of vegetables and fruit.

The large conical bowl with solid base is set over a triple meres, a solid quatrefoil (propeller) knop, a basal meres and knop which sit on a large engraved folded foot.

trumpet bowl with a short plain section above a basal knop and folded conical foot

A very fine and heavy baluster goblet. Featuring a conical bowl with solid base, teared angular and basal knop on a high folded conical foot.

Wine Glass

A rare and fine multi-spiral opaque twist wine glass (or small goblet).

Featuring a large round funnel bowl above shoulder and basal knop (an unusual combination).

The Fitzwilliam Tazza (Circa 1660/65)

An important tazza discovered by B. Haynes in 1948, along with 8 other examples, in Wentworth Woodhouse Hall. Probably made by the Buckingham Glass house in Greenwich. More Information >>

A fine Beilby wine glass featuring an ogee bowl with enamelled grapes and vines and a gilt rim.

Milchglas Tankard (Circa 1750)

A large Bohemian milchglas tankard,
featuring a central polychrome enamelled scene of a castle in a reserve surrounded by flowers and leaves. 15.5cm Tall.

Milchglass Tankard (Circa 1750)

A large enamelled Bohemian tankard
decorated in bright enamels with a 'jolly drinker' with fruit baskets and further panels of flowers. 18cm Tall.

A fine Dutch engraved composite stem wine goblet.

Featuring an engraved round funnel bowl over a rare opaque twist composite stem on a plain conical foot.

A rare heavy baluster 'acorn' knop goblet. Featuring a bell bowl with solid base over and acorn knop and a folded foot.

A fine balustroid goblet with an ogee bowl featuring an engraved border of flowering foliage.

The bowl sits on a tapering stem with a basal knop on a domed foot.

Having a finely engraved round funnel bowl over a teared inverted baluster stem on a plain conical foot.

Early Gadrooned
Ale Glass

An early short ale glass with wrythen gadrooning to the lower half of the bowl, which is set on teared stem with a shoulder moulded inverted baluster knop and basal knop - all standing on a folded conical foot.

A pair of wine flutes with drawn trumpet bowls engraved with grapes, vine leaves and a bird set on multi-spiral air twist stems standing on plain conical feet. 18.3cm tall
